Player 2
Presented by Backyard Theatre Collective
Travis is trying to deal with the loss of his twin. His mum thinks he should go to group therapy. Facebook tells him that time will heal all wounds. Instead, Travis continues to develop an unhealthy obsession with papier mache. Parallel to Travis' story is grief counsellor, John Stevenson, who is taking his class through his four step program on how to deal with the loss of a loved one. Player 2 utilises dramatic narrative, audience participation, puppetry and chalk to explore the bond between siblings.
AWARDS
Player 2 was nominated for FRINGE WORLD 2017 Theatre Award.
REVIEWS
“Your heart may break a little, as it touches on topics that hurt but there is laughter too… Reminiscent and nostalgic, the child inside you that has loved and lost so much since playing with tennis balls and dolls will thank you for going to this show. At times the set felt like that of Playschool or a kids TV show, with boxes being opened, and costumes and props pulled out that changed the imaginary setting, leading the audience to a different but familiar place in the story” Katie Bennett, Isolated Nation 2017.
“Gordon’s writing is fun, witty, sharp, but most importantly it is genuine” Rhumer Diball, Downstage Discernments.
