Kristen Maloney is a performing arts director, writer and producer with over ten years of experience creating and presenting diverse projects across Brisbane, regional Queensland, interstate, and internationally. She has collaborated closely with artists and communities to deliver a wide range of projects, including theatre, contemporary circus, digital installations, large-scale community engagement initiatives, and digital performances, with a particular focus on augmented reality.
In addition, Kristen completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2024. Her research explored the intersection of emerging digital technologies—such as augmented reality—with live performance.
Kristen’s previous award-winning works include her role as Assistant Director for 'Boy, Lost', which won the 2022 Lord Mayor’s Award for Best Australian New Work. She also received the Adelaide Fringe 2020 Weekly Award for Best Emerging Artist for 'Boys Taste Better with Nutella', as well as the FRINGE WORLD 2019 Weekly Award for Best Theatre for the same production. 'Boys Taste Better with Nutella' was further nominated for the People’s Choice Award at Melbourne Fringe 2019. Additionally, Kristen was nominated for the FRINGE WORLD 2017 Theatre Award for 'Player 2', and produced 'The Wives of Wolfgang', which earned the Adelaide Fringe 2020 Weekly Award for Best Cabaret.
